What if a “Snow Day” happens during the Exam Schedule (posted Jan 20 / 2012)

Recently, I’ve received a few calls asking about the exam schedule if an exam is cancelled because of a “Snow Day” or inclement weather.  Hopefully this will not happen but I do remind students to take home their books and exam reviews for at least 2 exams, just in case. First of all I would remind students and parents to confirm that exams have been moved due to inclement weather

  • information about Snow Day will be posted on School or Board Website
  • listen to local Radio or news stations to hear any details
  • call the school
The exam schedule itself would shift to the next day.  For example… if a “snow day” were to happen on Monday Jan 30, the day for the exams for period 2; if then all the remaining exams would shift to the next day and we would use the 5th day…

Current Schedule
Friday Jan 27           Monday Jan 30           Tuesday Jan 31          Wed Feb 1st             Thurs Feb 2nd
Period 1 Exam           Period 2 Exam           Period 3 Exam           Period 4 Exam

Adjusted Exam Schedule of Inclement Weather or Snow Day on Monday Jan 30th
Friday Jan 27           Monday Jan 30           Tuesday Jan 31          Wed Feb 1st             Thurs Feb 2nd
Period 1 Exam           cancelled exam          Period 2 Exam           Period 3 Exam           Period 4 Exam

Adjusted Exam Schedule of Inclement Weather or Snow Day on Tuesday Jan 31th
Friday Jan 27           Monday Jan 30           Tuesday Jan 31          Wed Feb 1st             Thurs Feb 2nd
Period 1 Exam           Period 2 Exam           cancelled exam          Period 3 Exam           Period 4 Exam

In the event that this situation occurs we would post the new exam schedule on our website.

~Just a Reminder - Cell Phones (Aug 22 /11)
Overall our students have been really great with the cell phone policy and here is just a quick reminder for everyone.  We have discussed this during our assemblies today and it is also written in the student agenda planners.

KPR CELL PHONE POLICY
~ Our school follows the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board's policy on use of personal electronic devices (PEDs) - such as cell phones and MP3 players - in schools.~ The policy states PEDs may be used only during regularly scheduled breaks, such as lunch hour, or in areas designated by principals.~ Cell phones and other PEDs must be turned off and stored out of sight in classrooms during instructional time.~ PEDs may never be used in washrooms or change rooms.~ The policy applies to everyone in a school, and it was approved after extensive consultation with students, parents, school councils, teachers, principals, support staff and community members.

Specifically at CCSS - students can use cell phones between classes, during lunch and before or after school.~ If a student has a spare they can use their cell phones in cafe or foyer as long as they do not interrupt any students in classes.~ During class, students are expected to turn off their cell phone and put it away.~ During a lockdown, cell phones are to remain off so that we can communicate quickly and effectively with proper authorities, parents and guardians.
